Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team dropped another tight Centennial Conference match-up as visiting Franklin & Marshall scored three unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning, following a four-run sixth, to overtake the Red Devils, 7-5.
Max Matilsky (Bernardsville, N.J./Morristown-Beard) singled in the first and scored with the help of an error and a passed ball while Robbie Thompson (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) tallied his 100th career hit and scored on a sac-fly from Rick Hopkins (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Holy Spirit) for a 2-0 lead.
Matilsky added another hit and scored on a single from Stephen Sakowicz (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) and scored again in the fifth to put Dickinson up, 4-0.
A two-run double and three singles in the sixth pulled the Diplomats even, 4-4. Christopher Vincent drove in two of F&M's three runs in the seventh as they rallied to take a 7-4 lead.
Senior Jake Band (Gaithersburg, Md./St. John's College) singled and scored in the ninth on a double from Max Brown (Annapolis, Md./McDonogh) for the final of 7-5.
Ben Rappaport (Wilton, Conn./St. Luke's) allowed just two hits and struck out three in 5.1 innings of work. Reid Collins (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) suffered the loss despite not allowing an earned run in the seventh.
Thompson added another hit after reaching the century mark, going 2-for-4 on the day. Matilsky went 2-for-2 with three runs scored while Band went 2-for-3 on the day as well.
The Red Devils slip to 20-17 overall and 7-8 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to Franklin & Marshall on Friday before returning home for a double-header with Johns Hopkins on Saturday at 12:30 pm.
