#8 Cavaliers Slip Away Late 13-11

Box Score

(Radford, Pa.) – The #13-ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team had to wait an extra day for a top-20 showdown at #8-ranked Cabrini College. After power failure forced the game to Sunday, the teams turned in a thrilling see-saw battle with the host Cavaliers slipping away with a 13-11 decision.

The teams traded goals, playing to a 3-3 tie at the end of the first quarter. Tyler Strods (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) scored twice with Tucker Carney (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) dishing out a pair of assists.

Dylan Maher (Ridgefield, Conn/Ridgefield) netted back-to-back goals to put Dickinson up, 5-4, at the 10:50 mark of the second quarter.

The Cavaliers strung together a four-goal run to lead, 8-5, with 4:04 remaining in the half. Charlie DeMuth (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) countered just seconds later, with an assist from Strods and Maher capitalized on a man-up assist from Connor Ringwalt (Springfield, Pa./Episcopal Academy) to cut the deficit to 8-7 at halftime.

First-year Phil Regan (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor) tallied a pair of assists and DeMuth fed Carney for a goal as the Red Devils kept pace in the third quarter, knotting the game at 10, with 5:15 remaining.

Matt LoParo scored for Cabrini before Regan tallied his third assist of the period, finding Strods to tie the game with 13 seconds left in the third.

Jordan Krug broke through in the opening two minutes of the fourth quarter to net the eventual game-winner, early in what would be a two-goal period. The Cavs added an insurance goal at the 2:29 mark and held on to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Strods led the attack with four goals and one assist while Maher netted four as well, and matched Strods with four ground balls. Nate Usich (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms) and Jack Doran (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford School) combined for eight GBs and forced three turnovers.

Senior Ryan Campbell (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fairhaven) won 9-of-13 face-offs and controlled three ground balls. Bobby Hartwick (Brookville, Md./Georgetown Prep) won seven face-offs, adding three GBs.

Sophomore Cole Pellicano (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) earned the start in goal, making eight saves. Andrew Jones (Odenton, Md./Arundel) came on to make a pair of saves.

The Red Devils slip to 2-1 on the season. They return home to face Roanoke College at 5:00 pm on Wednesday at Biddle Field.
