(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's and women's tennis teams both posted 9-0 victories over visiting McDaniel College on Tuesday night.
First-years Neve Brennan (Bala, Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) and Kirsten Brodeen (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain) led the women to a 3-0 start in doubles, claiming the third flight 8-1.
The Red Devils claimed singles in straight sets, led by a (6-1, 6-0) performance from Emily Sprague (South Burlington, Vt./Bluffton) and a pair of 8-0, pro-set wins from Jaclyn Baum (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) and Eliza Varlotta (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brashear).
The Red Devils improve to 6-7 overall and 2-3 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again on Saturday, hosting Washington College at 1:00 pm.
The Red Devil men turned in a dominant performance as well, winning all five singles matches in straight sets after a 3-0 start in doubles.
Seniors Samuel Loring (New York, N.Y./Blair Academy) and Shawn Diniz (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) survived a 9-8 (3) battle in the top flight while Peter Schmidt (Morris Plains, N.J./Laurel Springs) and Derek Chen (Cranbury Township, Pa./Cranbury Township) went 8-0 in the second flight.
Chen posted a (6-0, 6-0) win the third singles flight while first-year Bryce Perritt (Allentown, Pa./Lawrenceville) did the same in the fifth. Loring captured an 8-0 decision in the number four spot.
The Red Devils improve to 7-6 overall and 1-3 in the Centennial Conference. They are in action again on Wednesday, hosting Franklin & Marshall at 4:00 pm.
