#12 Devils Top #10 F&M to Move Into Second

Box Score

(Lancaster, Pa.) – The #12 ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team upended #10 ranked Franklin & Marshall, 11-9 on Wednesday night to move in to sole possession of second place in the Centennial Conference standings.

F&M struck first but the Red Devils answered with three straight at Nate Usich (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms) fed Tucker Carney (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) and Jack O'Connell (Sands Point, N.Y./Westminster) found the net twice.

Brodie Phillips (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) went coast to coast and dumped a beautiful feed to O'Connell for his second of the quarter.

Kevin Mollihan cut the deficit to 3-2 with a goal in the final minute of the first.

The Red Devils held on a defense in the second quarter, killing off simultaneous penalties as Cole Pellicano (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) turned away three shots on goal in the series.

Mitchell Andres (East Lyme, Conn./Berkshire) dodged his way to the cage and finished and Tyler Strods (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) buried an extra-man goal to put Dickinson up 5-2.

Long pole middie Usich triggered a fast break and fed long pole defenseman Jack Doran (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford School) for a long range strike, drawing a penalty in the process.

Strods slipped in and scored on the crease and O'Connell scored his third to put Dickinson in front, 8-3, at halftime.

Strods netted a feed from Nick Goles (Monkton, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) and Carney gave the Devils an 11-5 lead. They then held off a final push from F&M for the win.

Charlie DeMuth (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) had a great game in the midfield, disrupting the Diplomat offense and working well in transition. He forced three turnovers and controlled four ground balls.

Pellicano turned away a huge attempt at the end of the third, making his 19th of the game, to keep the lead at 11-7. He finished with 21 on the night to complete a remarkable performance.

O'Connell tallied three goals and one assist while Strods had a hat trick as well. Usich had another outstanding game with four caused turnovers and eight ground balls to go with two assists.

The Red Devils improve to 12-3 overall and 6-1 in the conference. They return home to face Ursinus College on senior day on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
