(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team split a double-header with visiting Franklin & Marshall on Friday, taking the opener 12-0, before dropping a seven-inning decision 9-2.

The opening game was the Centennial Conference match-up to complete the series and the Red Devils jumped on the Diplomats early, knocking out two pitchers in the third inning as the scored 10 runs in the opening three frames.

Ben Carter (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) reached on a pair of errors, adding a single, a double and three runs scored in the opener. Robbie Thompson (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) scored three runs on two hits and a pair of walks.

First-year Alex Cohen (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn Charter) drove in four runs with two hits and sacrifice fly while Brendan Pell (Delran, N.J./Penn Charter) tallied three straight RBI singles in game one.

Ethan Collins (Elmer, N.J./Arthur P. Schalick) went seven innings to earn the win, allowing just four hits in the shutout effort. Anthony Francioso (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton East) surrendered two hits and recorded two strikeouts in two innings of relief.

The Diplomats scored lone runs in the each of the first three innings, adding three in the fifth and three in the sixth to claim the nightcap, 9-2.

The Red Devils cut the deficit to 3-1 in the third as Pell doubled and came around on an RBI from Adam Quine (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley). Quine tallied another RBI in the fifth after Joe Pepe (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville) reached on a bunt single and stole second.

Matt Devlin went the distance, scattering five hits to earn the win for F&M (17-15-2, 9-6-1 CC).

The Red Devils move to 8-24 on the season and 5-11 in the conference. The Red Devils are on the road tomorrow, traveling to Johns Hopkins for a 12:30 pm start.
