Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team had a tough day, dropping a double-header to visiting Swarthmore, 13-2 and 9-1, on Saturday afternoon at MacPhail Field.

The Red Devils committed six errors in the opener as the Garnet pushed across three runs in the second and third innings and tallied two in the fifth, of which only two were earned. Swarthmore used back-to-back doubles to add four in the seventh.

Adam Quine (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) and Jonathan Chudacoff (Highland Park, Ill./Berkshire School) had back-to-back singles in the seventh and Pat Davis (New Providence, R.I./Morristown-Beard) walked to load the bases in the seventh.

Junior Austin Morgan (Aston, Pa./Episcopal Academy) reached on an fielder's choice and scored Quine as the throw to the plate was off the mark. Max Brown (Annapolis, Md./McDonogh) drove in Chudacoff by being hit by a pitch for the Devils' second run of the inning.

Sawyer Lake recorded eight strikeouts to earn the win in game one for Swarthmore.

Chudacoff went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored to lead the offense.

The Red Devils had a good start in game two as Brendan Pell (Delran, N.J./Penn Charter) singled and stole second to set up an RBI for Brian Reilly (Morganville, N.J./Marlboro) to put Dickinson on the board in the bottom of the first.

Swarthmore countered with one in the top of the second and took a 6-1 lead with two runs in the third and three in the fourth.

The Red Devils settled in and put together two scoreless innings. The Garnet tacked on a lone run in the seventh and two in the eighth for the 9-1 final.

Reilly, Quine and first-year catcher Chris Delsandro (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) recorded the only hits for the Devils in the nightcap as Ricky Conti went eight innings in a three-hit win before Owen Webb came on to close.

Errors plagued the Devils in the nightcap as well. Dickinson had some strong pitching performances as Reid Collins (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) surrendered six unearned runs on just two hits in the start. The Garnet recorded only two earned runs in game two.

The Red Devils slip to 6-14 overall and 3-3 in the Centennial Conference. They are scheduled to host McDaniel College on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 pm.
