Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

(Chestertown, Md.) – The Dickinson baseball team dropped the opener 10-3 but turned around to force a split with a 17-6 win in the nightcap at Washington College on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils got off to a great start, jumping out to a 3-0 lead on a three-run homer from Alex Jacobson (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) in the top of the first inning.

The Shoremen used a pair of doubles and capitalized on an error to take the lead 4-3 in the bottom half of the inning.

Mike Smith held the Red Devils to just six hits over six innings, adding six strikeouts to earn the win.

Ben Carter (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) continued to have a hot bat, adding two hits in the opener.

Washington struck early again in game two, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. They tallied three in the sixth as well, but the Red Devils produced a lot more offense and erupted in the seventh with 11 runs coming across the plate.

Brian Reilly (Morganville, N.J./Marlboro) tripled to lead off the second inning and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Pat Davis (New Providence, N.J./Morristown-Beard). The Red Devils scored twice in the third, sparked by a lead-off double from Chris Delsandro (Chatham, N.J./Chatham).

Carter reached on an error to score Delsandro and came around himself on a double from senior Max Matilsky (Bernardsville, N.J./Morristown-Beard) to tie the game in the top of the third inning.

Alex Cohen (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn Charter) drove in a lone run in the fifth and had a two-RBI single in the big seventh.

Max Brown (Annapolis, Md./McDonogh School) highlighted the seventh with a grand slam to plate four runs and Reilly added an RBI double. Reilly roped a two-run homer in the ninth for the final tally of 17-6.

Reilly went 3-for-4 with three RBI, four runs scored and two walks in game two. Matilsky went 2-for-4 with three runs scored while Cohen finished with two hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Brown and Delsandro each recorded two hits in the nightcap as well.

Jake Geddes (Darien, Conn./Darien) went 5.2 innings, recording seven strikeouts in the start. Junior reliever Tommy Koide (Morristown, N.J./West Morris Mendham) came on to earn the win, going 3.1 innings in a two-hit, four strikeout appearance. Koide improves to 5-0 on the season and holds the school record with six saves on the year.
