Box Score

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #15-ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team suffered a heartbreaker, falling 15-13 to visiting #16-ranked Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday night at Biddle Field.

The Red Devils stormed out to a quick 3-0 lead before the Diplomats were able to settle in counter with a pair of goals from Kevin Mollihan.

Senior John Lockwood (Bloomfield Hills, N.J./Brother Rice) countered and junior Max Menkes (Potomac, Md./Bullis) beat the shot clock on an assist from Jack O'Connell (Sands Point, N.Y./Westminster) to put Dickinson up, 5-2.

The second half opened with a Red Devil miscue that led to an own-goal to put F&M in front 7-6. Mollihan netted his fourth goal of the game to extend the lead to 8-6, finishing an assist from Luke Keating.

Joel Mayo (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Berkshire) sandwiched a pair of goals around one from Keating to cut the deficit to 9-8.

F&M strung together five straight goals to pull in front, 14-8, with just under two minutes to play in the third quarter.

O'Connell closed out the period, scoring off an assist from long pole midfielder Nate Usich (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms) to pull Dickinson within five.

F&M scored to start the fourth before the Red Devils tallied the next four goals to close the gap. Lockwood fed Phillips and O'Connell and O'Connell cut the deficit to 15-12 on an assist from Mayo with 4:42 left to play.

Goles gave Dickinson new life, scoring with just under three minutes to make it a two-goal game.

Penalties plagued the Red Devils down the stretch as F&M was able to run out the clock and secure the 15-13 decision.

Usich finished with five ground balls, forcing a pair of turnovers and winning 3-of-6 face-offs. Bobby Hartwick (Brookeville, Md./Georgetown Prep) won 15-of-25 face-offs and controlled six GBs.
