Box Score (Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball turned in a complete performance on Wednesday night, posting a 69-62 win on the road at Gettysburg College.
Chris Bates (Ellicott City, Md./Boys' Latin) had a strong start for the Red Devils, opening with a three-point play and putting the Red Devils in front, 14-9, adding four rebounds in the first five minutes.
First-year Travis Dobbins (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) hit a pair of free throws and scored to put Dickinson up by 11 at the midpoint of the half.
Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School) and KJ Holton (Clinton, Md./DeMatha) added three-pointers to five the Red Devils a 35-20 advantage with 6:51 to play.
The Red Devils led 40-28 at the break. The Bullets used an 8-0 run to pull within three 10:28 mark of the second half and tied the game, 50-50, with just under eight minutes to play in the game.
Gettysburg took the lead before Allen made a strong move to the basket to put Dickinson back on top, 54-53, and Dan Conlan (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) buried a three-pointer for a four-point lead.
Allen traded baskets will Alex Leder and Ryan Devine (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) knocked down a triple for a 62-57 advantage with under two minutes remaining in regulation.
Danny Duffy sank one for the corner to pull the Bullets back within two as the clock showed just 1:04 to play.
Devine came up big again, draining a deep three-pointer from the wing to force a Gettysburg timeout with 39 seconds left.
Allen grabbed a defensive rebound and calmly converted both free throws on the other end. Conlan repeated the feat on the next possession for the final of 69-62.
Bates had a great night, finishing with a double-double, scoring 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting and controlling 11 rebounds. Allen added 13 points as well, adding six rebounds and five assists.
Devine went 4-for-6 from beyond the arc to reach double-figures with 12 points, adding six rebounds on the night. Holton and Dobbins each scored 10.
The Red Devils improve to 4-20 and 4-13 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to host Washington College Saturday, celebrating on senior day prior to a 4:00 pm tip-off.
