Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The #18-ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team held off visiting #19-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology, 13-12, in overtime on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils took a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter on a pair of goals from Ben Levin (Simsbury, Mass./Simsbury) and scores from Nick Goles (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and Matt Donnelly (Frenchtown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional).
The Ducks scored first in a low scoring second period before sophomore Timmy Carlson (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Haverford School) dished out an assist to Goles and scored on his own to give Dickinson a 6-3 lead at the break.
The Ducks tallied four-straight to start the third to take a 7-6 lead with 7:04 remaining in the period. Ryan Schaffer (West Caldwell, N.J./Caldwell) countered to tie the game and Skyler Schluter (Summit, N.J./Summit) handed out his second assist of the day as Sam Campbell (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) put the Red Devils back in front.
Nico Ipeker found the net with 51 seconds to play in the period and Goles scored with just three seconds on the clock to put Dickinson in front, 9-8, heading into the fourth quarter.
Ipeker struck twice, putting Stevens on top with 8:08 remaining in regulation. Rocco Casaceli (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) found Andrew Eckert (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater) and Schluster fed Tucker Booth (Timonium, Md./Boys' Latin) to retake the lead once again with 5:53 to play.
The Ducks tallied a pair of goals around an unassisted strike from Goles, scoring with just 21 seconds on the clock to force overtime.
Stevens claimed the extra-frame face-off, but the Red Devils quickly forced a turnover to gain possession.
Levin found the net on the Devils' fourth shot of overtime as Schluter tallied his fourth assist of the game for the 13-12 victory.
Goles finished with four goals while Levin added a hat-trick with three goals. Teddy Macfarlane (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) controlled four ground balls and forced a turnover.
Senior goaltender Cole Pellicano (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) finished with 18 saves and three ground balls on the day.
The Red Devils improve to 2-0 on the season. They are on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Elizabethtown for a 4:00 pm face-off.
