Box Score (Elizabethtown, Pa.) – The #15-ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team suffered a 16-12 setback at Elizabethtown College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Blue Jays jumped out to a quick 2-0 advantage, scoring twice in a span of just six seconds. The Red Devils countered as Skyler Schluter (Summit, N.J./Summit) fed Griffin Moore (Ridgefield, Conn./Trinity Pawling) and Ben Levin (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) and Nick Goles (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) found the net to match two more scores from Elizabethtown to make the score 4-3 at the end of the first quarter.
Levin and Ryan Schaffer (West Caldwell, N.J./Caldwell) sandwiched unassisted goals around a score from Cody Richter to knot the game, 5-5, at halftime.
Tucker Booth (Timonium, Md./Boys' Latin) answered an early goal from Elizabethtown, finishing an assist from James Isaacson (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) before a 3-0 run put the Blue Jays in front, 9-6, with just under three minutes to play in the third.
Levin and Moore cut the deficit back to one before the Blue Jays scored with one second remaining to take a 10-8 lead into the fourth.
Elizabethtown strung together three straight goals to open the fourth quarter, stretching the lead to 13-8. The Red Devils came back with three straight of their own to keep the Blue Jays in striking distance. Schluter fed Isaacson and Levin before Levin paid it forward with an assist to Moore to make the score 13-11 with 6:02 to play.
The Blue Jays came right back with another three-goal run to secure the win. Schaffer added a late goal for the final of 16-12.
Levin led the Red Devils with four goals while Moore added a hat-trick and Schluter had another big game with four assists.
Teddy Macfarlane (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) anchored the defensive effort with four ground balls and two caused turnovers while Will Smith (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) picked up four GBs and won eight face-offs.
Cole Pellicano (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) made 13 saves on the day.
The Red Devils slip to 2-1 on the season. They are on the road again with a tough test on Saturday, traveling to #3-ranked Cabrini University for a 1:00 pm start.
