(Hopewell, N.J.) – The Dickinson men's and women's tennis teams opened the spring season at The College of New Jersey. The Red Devil men suffered an 8-1 setback while the women fell 9-0.
Leonid Sorkin (St. Petersburg, Russia/U. of Nebraska H.S.) earned the point for the Red Devils, winning the top singles flight (6-1, 6-3).
Jordan Haber (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) and Bryce Perritt (Allentown, Pa./Lawrenceville) battled to an 8-6 setback in the second doubles flight and Joey Bolanos (San Salvador, El Salvador/Escuela Americans) fell in the second (6-2, 6-4).
Lexi Epstein (Falmouth, Maine/Waynflete) and Neve Brennan (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) gave a strong challenge in the number two doubles spot, 8-4.
First-year Martine Fierro (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) had a strong showing in the top singles flight, going (6-3, 6-4).
Epstein went three sets in singles, trading 6-1 wins before falling 10-7 in the tie breaker.
The men slip to 3-0 on the season while the women move to 1-2. They travel to Orlando, Florida for spring break on March 9.
