(Washington, D.C.) – The #24-ranked Dickinson men's squash team suffered an opening round setback to the #8-ranked University of Virginia on day one of the Mid-Atlantic State Championships, hosted by George Washington University.
The eighth-ranked Cavaliers captured all nine flights to advance to the semifinal round on Saturday. Junior Tanay Murdia (New Fatehpura Udaipur, India/Delhi Public School) had a strong match in the second flight, falling (11-9, 11-9, 11-9).
First-year Kobe Fleming (Whitby, New Zealand) battled at number three (11-5, 11-7, 11-9) and Adil Tibrawalla (Kolkata, India/La Martiniere School) went (8-11, 6-11, 5-11) in the eighth flight.
Graham Henderson (Greenwich, Conn./The King School) had a tough second set in a hard-fought match in the fourth (11-8, 11-0, 11-6)
The Red Devils slip to 5-11 on the season and move into the three-team consolation round.
