Box Score 2 (Auburndale, Fla.) – The Dickinson baseball team shrugged off a tough opener with Mount Union to claim a 7-6 win the nightcap after the Raiders took the opener, 19-0.
The Raiders scored one in the top of the first inning of game two before the Red Devils countered with a pair in the bottom of the first as Tom Gannaway (Westfield, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) drove in Pat Harrington (Long Valley, N.J./Delbarton) who drew a walk and stole second.
Gannaway stole second and third and came across on a wild pitch to put the Red Devils in front 2-1.
The Red Devils loaded the bases and pushed across runs with walks and hit batters, scoring four runs with no hits to take a 6-1 advantage at the end of the second.
Brendan Pell (Delbarton, N.J./Penn Charter) singled and swiped a pair of bases before coming across on an error to stretch the margin to 7-0.
The Raiders looked to rally with two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth, but the Red Devils would hold on for the win.
Pell had two of the Red Devils' three hits in the nightcap, going 2-for-3 a run scored.
Teddy Reddington (Reston, Va./Flint School) earned the win and combined with first-year Thomas Marshman (Cohassett, Mass./Boston College) for eight strikeouts.
The Red Devils stand even at 7-7 on the season. They are scheduled to face Penn State Abington and Massachusetts-Dartmouth on Friday before the remainder of the season is suspended indefinitely, beginning on Monday.
