Box Score (Sparks, Md.) – The Dickinson men's lacrosse team outscored Roanoke College 5-0 in the second quarter and held on for a 10-8 win at the U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame on Saturday.
Roanoke struck first before Tucker Booth (Timonium, Md./Boys' Latin) finished assists from Reese Norton (Timonium, Md./Hyde School) and Ben Levin (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) to put the Red Devils in front 2-1.
Roanoke tallied three more in the quarter with Nick Goles (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) finding the net to make the score 4-3.
Ryan Schaffer (West Caldwell, N.J./Caldwell) and Teddy Macfarlane (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) scored in a span of just 14 seconds to put the Red Devils on top 5-4 at the 11:29 mark.
Macfarlane continued to make his way into the attack, adding an assist to Booth to stretch the lead to 6-4.
Goles fed first-year Liam Carney (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) to record his 100th career point as a Red Devil and Max Menkes (Potomac, Md./Bullis) hit the twine to extend the margin to 8-4 at halftime.
Jason Saro handed out and assist and then scored to pull the Maroons within two at the 4:30 mark of the third quarter. Levin found Schaffer on an extra-man opportunity to give Dickinson a 9-6 advantage heading into the final quarter.
Goles fed Skyler Schluter (Summit, N.J./Summit) to start the fourth and the Red Devils held on after a pair of goals from Roanoke to improve to 3-2 on the season.
Booth led the attack with a hat-trick while Matt Kness (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) forced six turnovers and picked up eight ground balls. Macfarlane and Goles each added three ground balls and Cole Pellicano (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) made 16 saves to go with three ground balls and a caused turnover.
The Red Devils improve to 3-2 on the season. They travel to Stevenson University next Friday for the Mustang Classic, squaring off with #-7 ranked Denison University on Friday night.
