(CARLISLE, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's lacrosse team held a lead on #12-ranked Gettysburg for the better part of the second half, but a strong fourth quarter led the Bullets to a come-from-behind win, 9-7, on Saturday afternoon.

The Bullets went in front 2-0 as Kieran Ward tallied a goal and an assist in the opening five minutes. The Red Devils countered with goals from Patrick Mangan (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and Sascha Gannon (Lexington, Mass./Belmont Hill) to tie the game with 5:11 remaining in the first quarter.

Aidan Wykoff handed out an assist and matched a goal from Colin Kovacs (Rye, N.Y./Woodberry Forest) to give Gettysburg a 4-3 advantage, early in the second period.

Will Farrell (Bethesda, Md./Salisbury School) fed an assist to Kovacs and scored as Gannon picked up his second assist of the quarter to put Dickinson on top, 5-4, with 4:28 remaining in the half.

The Red Devils stretched the lead to three with the only two goals of the third quarter. Reese Norton (timonium, Md./Hyde School) found the net with Gannon scoring off an assist from Kovacs to make the score 7-4, heading into the fourth.

The Red Devils held strong through the first half of the final period. Ward tallied an assist to McCain Wnek at the 8:48 mark and Quinton Mather capitalized on an extra-man opportunity to pull Gettysburg within a goal with just 3:16 left to play.

Ward tied the game with 2:00 on the clock and struck again on the ensuing face-off give the Bullets the lead just 15 seconds later.

Gettysburg gained possession and was able to run out the clock, adding a late goal from Jake Fletcher for the final of 9-7.

Gannon led the Red Devils with two goals and two assists while Farrell finished with a goal and an assist on the day. Peter O'Sullivan (New Canaan, Conn./Avon Old Farms) and Cole Schwartz (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor) combined for five caused turnovers and four ground balls to anchor the defensive effort.

Stroud Corr (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) made some huge saves, finishing with 11. John McKee (Virginia Beach, Va./Episcopal) won six face-offs and controlled three GBs.

The Red Devils slip to 2-1 on the season and 1-1 in the Centennial Conference. They are on the road next weekend, traveling to Muhlenberg College for a 3:00 pm start.
