Red Devils Rally Past Washington in Overtime

(CHESTERTOWN, Md.) – The Dickinson men's lacrosse team rallied late in the fourth quarter to force overtime and would come out on top at Washington College, winning 10-9 on Saturday.

The Shoremen jumped out to 2-0 lead before Will Farrell (Bethesda, Md./Salisbury School) scored and Connor Ringwalt (Springfield, Pa./Episcopal) finished an assist from Skyler Schluter (Summit, N.J./Summit) to pull the Red Devils even.

Washington added another to lead 3-2 at the end of the first and outscored the Devils 4-1 in the second to take a 7-3 advantage into halftime. Ringwalt scored for Dickinson off another assist from Schluter on an extra-man opportunity.

The Red Devils closed the gap to 8-6 at the end of the third. Ringwalt found the net for the hat-trick and assisted Tucker Booth (Timonium, Md./Boys' Latin) on another and Schluter finished an assist from Edward Sinnott (Richmond, Va./Collegiate School).

Jake Evangelista (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) opened the fourth, scoring off a feed from Sascha Gannon (Lexington, Mass./Belmont Hill) to pull Dickinson within one at 8-7.

Washington answered before back-to-back goals from Booth would knot the game once again and force overtime. Jake Giotto (Pittsburgh, Pa./Quaker Valley) fed Booth at the 4:39 mark and Ringwalt picked up another assist with just 1:15 remaining in regulation.

The first overtime was just about to end but Evangelista would net the game-winner, scoring off an assist from Lee Dunn (Greensboro, N.C./Greensboro).

Ringwalt led the way with three goals and two assists while Booth finished with a hat-trick as well and Schluter tallied a goal and two assists.

First-year John McKee (Virginia Beach, Va./Episcopal) won 14-of-23 face-offs and picked up five ground balls. Senior goaltender Stroud Corr (Hudson, Ohio/ Hudson) finished with eight saves and three ground balls.

The Red Devils improve to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face Franklin & Marshall on Thursday at 7:00 pm.
