Box Score CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson field hockey team was unable to overcome tenth-ranked Rowan University on a wet and rainy Wednesday afternoon as the Profs earned an 8-1 win in non-conference action.
Rowan had a 2-0 lead before the Red Devils had their first shot of the game as Sydney Engler rolled one wide. Dickinson had a chance late in the first with Amanda Fruman getting two shots away and Anna Snyder firing one, but Abby Hainsworth turned them all aside.
The home side kept pushing the attack to try and get back into the game as Hannah Spiri and Abby Marthins were stopped by Hainsworth. The Profs recorded the final eight shots of the quarter with two beating the keeper.
The Red Devils started the third frame strong with Lucy Walrond and Engler taking cracks at solving Hainsworth but were kept off the board. Rowan had four shots the remainder of the period with three hitting the back of the cage.
Both teams would score once in the fourth as Alyssa Magliaro tallied for the visitors at the 3:24 mark. Then, Ella Krenzer netted her first of the season when Hainsworth denied Spiri, before Engler retrived the rebound and found Krenzer to cap the scoring.
