GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Dickinson men's swimming team began their 2022-23 season on Saturday afternoon at the Centennial West Quad Meet hosted by Gettysburg College. Unfortunately for the Red and White they dropped a 142-119 decision to Washington College and came up short 177-84 against the host Bullets.
The Devils began the day with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay as the team of
Nolan Chenot,
Daulton Kendall,
Justin Wong, and
James Wright clocking in at 1:40.21, while the group of Chris Burmaster,
Frederico Colloca-Bianchi,
Paul Florio,
Connor Frederickson landed in seventh by hitting the line in 1:44.42.
Dickinson took a pair of podium places in 1000-yard freestyle with Alex Kanard finishing in second at 10:26.00, followed by
Aidan Keillor (10:38.08).Â
Reid Schattgen clocked in at 1:48.40 during the 200-yard freestyle which was good for third, while
Daniel Vasquez came in seventh with a mark of 1:52.54 and
Ben Lilly ended in eighth (1:54.20).
Two members of the Red and White earned Top-5 finishes in the 100-yard backstroke as Wright (55.63) and Colloca-Bianchi (55.93) claimed fourth and fifth respectively.
Patrick Dunn took 10th at 1:06.19.Â
Wong was the top-finishing DC swimmer during the 100-yard breaststroke as he touched the pad in 1:02.56 for sixth, while
Henry Lease claimed ninth at 1:04.70.
Schattgen earned another third-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.00. Florio took fifth stopping the clock in 2:06.01.
In the 50-yard freestyle it was Kendall who came in just off the winning pace as he took second by hitting the wall in 22.26. The Devils also claimed seventh through ninth thanks to Chenot (22.93),
Sunil Surprenant (24.02), and
Avery Coonin (25.71).Â
Kendall grabbed his second consecutive second-place result with his time of 49.15 during the 100-yard freestyle.
Zach Brown also participated in the event with a mark of 52.00 good for eighth.Â
Two Devils landed inside the Top-5 of the 200-yard backstroke with Wright finishing in third at 2:01.75, followed right behind by Colloca-Bianchi and his 2:02.86.Â
Wong and Lease finished fourth and fifth during the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 2:19.03 and 2:22.63 respectively.
Andrew Kelley claimed ninth in 2:33.38.
Kanard was the top Devil of the 500-yard freestyle as his mark of 5:04.45 was good for fourth, while Keillor took sixth in 5:08.24.Â
Schattgen recorded third third-place result of the day in 100-yard butterfly by touching the pad in 54.38 and was joined in the Top-5 by Chenot at 55.46 (5th).
Dickinson held down fourth through sixth in the 200-yard individual medley thanks to Vasquez (2:06.68), Kelley (2:07.44), and Florio (2:07.50).
The Red and White took second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with the group of Kendall, Schattgen, Wright, and Wong posting a mark of 3:15.08. A time of 3:27.10 put up by Chenot, Kanard, Keillor, and Lilly was good for fifth, while Brown, Burmaster, Colloca-Bianchi, and Frederickson came in seventh at 3:29.02.

Dickinson (0-2, 0-2 Centennial) gets back to work next Saturday, October 29th when they head to Westminster, Maryland for a matchup with McDaniel College.Â
