Box Score

WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Dickinson baseball team rode a season-high 26 hits and a nine-run first inning to begin their huge four-game week with a 20-10 Centennial Conference win over the host McDaniel College Green Terror at Preston Field.

Pitching Decision

W - Matt Spind (2-2) | L - Matt Mondrone (0-2) | S - Koll Peichel (1)

Inside the Game

Dickinson exploded right out of the gate as the first six Devils reached against Mondrone as walks to Lukas Atsalis and Cole Hare coupled with a single by Tom Gannaway filled the bags for Luke Jackson. He ripped a two-run single, followed by an RBI knock by Kaden Sigmon which chased Mondrone from the game in favor of Jack Valentine. He struck out Cole Benner, before allowing a run-scoring single for Pat Harrington, RBI walk to Ryan Thompson, and a fielder's choice to Atsalis extending it to 6-0. The Red and White were still not done as Gannaway blasted a three-run homer making the lead 9-0 through a half. Spind would concede two in the home-half as Shane Daly scored on an RBI two-bagger for Tyler Yohn, before a sac fly by Jake Smith plated him.

After a boring second inning, DC threatened again in the third when with two gone Hare and Jackson singled and Matt Torres worked a walk to load the bases, unfortunately, Sigmon bounced into a fielder's choice which saw Torres get forced out at second to retire the side. The home side cut the deficit to 9-3 through three as Joey Hubinger and Austin Goudeaux picked up singles leading to an RBI knock for Smith.

Dickinson would add five more during the top of the fourth. Benner began things with a knock and Thompson worked a walk to bring Brody Cullison into the contest from the bullpen. He allowed consecutive doubles to Atsalis and Gannaway to drive home two more. A sac fly to right off the bat of Hare scored Atsalis, before Gannaway came home on another base hit for Jackson. The final run of the frame happened when Torres produced a knock to drive home Jackson stretching the lead to 14-3 through three and a half. A double by Connor Uhrig ledoff the home-half leading to an RBI two-bagger for T.J. McGuire. He would then come in three batters later on a sac fly from Yohn. DC tacked on one more during the sixth when Atsalis singled, prior to crossing home on a rip by Jackson making it 15-5 through six.

Hunter Darke became the fourth Green Terror pitcher of the game to kickoff the seventh and he immediately ran into issues as Sigmon took him over the wall. Benner singled, but then watched Harrington and Thompson get setdown before Atsalis smoked a two-bagger driving in one more. He crossed two hitters later with an RBI single for Hare pushing it to 18-5. Dickinson added one more in each of the final two innings with Desmond Watkins recording a single and Harrington smacking a two-bagger to put both men in scoring position for Thompson. During his at-bat a balk was called against Darke to force in one. Then in the ninth two walks and single put runners everywhere for Ian Beumee who produced a sac fly for the 20th DC run.

However, the scoring would not be done as the Green Terror got five off of Peichel in the home-half of the ninth. Two singles and a walk set the stage for an RBI knock for Uhrig, before McGuire drove home two more. Then, Hunter Kelly and Daly completed the scoring with run-scoring hits making it 20-10. Peichel wrapped up the contest with a strikeout of Santino DeFllippo.
