Devils Battle Hard Against Blue Jays

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's tennis team took one match in both doubles and singles, but ultimately did not have enough to overcome the visiting Johns Hopkins Blue Jays as they earned a 7-2 Centennial Conference win on Friday afternoon at the Hays Tennis Courts.

Doubles (Hopkins 2-1)

Dickinson earned their victory at the number three slot where the pair of DJ Finnell and Levi Veleanu had enough to overcome Karan Belday and Tim Treinen 8-5. The second team of Romano De Caprio and Will Lewis were able to take three games from Eric Burrer and Andrew Tran however the Hopkins pair picked up the 8-3 win. The other group of Garrick Adams and Thomas Griffin fell 8-0 to Ryan Hellinger and Vishnu Joshi.

Singles (Hopkins 5-1)

The Red and White got their victory at the number six spot where Finnell took down Treinen by a score of 6-0, 6-4. Veleanu at the fourth slot had the most compelling match of the day as he went the full three sets against Burrer. The Hopkins player won the first 6-2, before Veleanu got revenge in the second by winning 7-6 thanks to a 7-5 win in the tiebreaker. Unfortunately, Burrer had just a little more in the super tiebreak edging out the Devil 11-9. Lewis at number five battled with Belday, but fell 6-1, 6-3. De Caprio got three games in the first set versus Hellinger, however, dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision. Griffin went down 6-1, 6-1 at number two, while Adams lost a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Joshi.
