GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Dickinson men's soccer team had their four-game win streak stopped on Wednesday night thanks to four first-half goals by the fourth-ranked Falcons of Messiah University en route to a 4-1 non-conference defeat at Shoemaker Field.
Messiah was out of the gates strong recording the first six shots of the match, which included three goals inside the opening 14 minutes. The Falcons continued to carry the play picking up two more shots over the following ten minutes with Dylan Englehart adding another one for the home side to stretch the margin to 4-0 with just 24:34 off the clock. Dickinson's first look at goal came just over a minute later as
Saul Iwowo was denied by Jared Pavlovich. The remainder of the half would see the play stay in the middle of the park with neither side getting another chance.Â
With three minutes off the clock in the second-half DC tried to chip away at the deficit, but
Ethan Jarden had his blast sail wide. Matt McDonald was prevented from adding onto the lead for the home side by
Andrew Kempe during the 49th minute. That stop led to the Red and White denting the board with
Tim O'Hare cashing in an unassisted finish. Messiah would outshoot the Devils seven to two over the rest of the match with Iwowo recording the only two opportunities for DC.Â
