GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Dickinson women's soccer team had a tough time breaking down a strong Messiah University defense as the second-ranked Falcons did just enough to earn a 1-0 non-conference victory at Shoemaker Field.
Dickinson struggled to find their footing in the first half as they were held shotless, while the host Falcons notched four shots in the period but none of them forced DC keeper
Sophia Kavulich into making a save.
The Red and White finally recorded their first shot of match at the 50:32 mark when
Charlotte Glancey sailed an attempt over the head of Ava Wert. The next three chances belonged to the home side as Kristina Akselsen and Julia Martin tested Kavulich, before Rachael Tirjan blasted one over the frame.
Maddie St. Amanda tried to get the lid-lifter in the match during the 73rd minute, but Wert unfortunately was there for the save. Three minutes later Tirjan gave the hosts the lead with an unassisted marker. Dickinson had one final opportunity to share the spoils when
Sarah Hughes got loose for a shot right at the horn. However, it missed high-left over Wert.
