Devils Win Three Times, but Can’t Hold Off Bears

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's swimming team won one relay and got individual wins from Alexander Kanard and Justin Wong, but it was not enough as the host Ursinus College earned a 121-75 conference win over the Red and White on Saturday afternoon.

Dickinson was on the podium in the first race of the day as the team of Nolan Chenot, Frederico Colloca-Bianchi, Daulton Kendall and Wong clocked in at 1:39.97 for second. Another DC group of Paul Florio, Andrew Kelley, Henry Lease and Daniel Vasquez was just outside the Top-3 in fourth with a 1:45.32.

Kanard claimed the Devs first triumph in the second race of the day by besting the field during the 1000-yard freestyle by hitting the wall in 10:15.69, while Aidan Keillor took third in 10:36.10.

The Red and White put two athletes inside the Top-3 during the 200-yard freestyle with Reid Schattgen posting a 1:46.96 for second, followed by James Wright two seconds later (1:48.57). Sunil Surprenant also competed with a 2:04.64.

Dickinson held down fourth through sixth in the 50-yard freestyle thanks to the trio of Kendall (22.38), Wong (22.46) and Lease (23.92).

Vasquez was the highest placing Devil for the 400-yard individual medley grabbing fourth in 4:30.04 with Florio (4:31.96) and Kelley (4:32.44) falling in right behind him.

Chenot earned a podium slot during the 100-yard butterfly finishing third by clocking in at 56.08. The duo of Kanard and Sam Strieb took up fifth (57.91) and sixth (1:04.38) respectively.

Three Devils competed in the 100-yard freestyle with Kendall grabbing fourth (49.08), while Keillor (51.59) and Surprenant (54.12) claimed fifth and sixth.

Senior Patrick Dunn made an appearance in the 100-yard backstroke taking fifth with a 1:03.50, while Colloca-Bianchi was a spot above at 56.41.

Wright and Schattgen occupied podium spots for the 500-yard freestyle thanks to times of 5:02.62 and 5:04.75.

The Red and White tasted victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay thanks to the unit of Chenot, Kanard, Schattgen and Wright clocking in at 3:23.29.

Dickinson will now have some time before they return to action on Thursday, February 16th for day one of the Centennial Conference Championship at Gettysburg College.
