HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Dickinson men's team claimed just one win on the afternoon as the Red and White fell by an 8-1 margin to the Eagles of Asbury University on Thursday at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Club.
Double (Eagles 2-1)
The lone victory for the Devils came at the second spot where the team of
Thomas Griffin and
Levi Veleanu held off Franco Patino and Yousef Ismail in a back-and-forth affair by a score of 8-6.
DJ Finnell and
Spencer Goodman playing on the three line gave a good fight to Ignacio Ardiles and Yuri Tirado, before falling short 8-5. Dickinson's top duo of
Garrick Adams and
Will Lewis did not have enough to overcome Alejandro Caceres and Gregorio Ingles dropping an 8-2 decision.Â
Singles (Eagles 6-0)
The best opportunity for the Red and White to seize a match in singles came at the third slot where Veleanu took a 7-6 win, but then allowed Patino to take the next two 6-3, 10-7. Griffin taking part in the two spot was the only other Devil to win more than one game as he grabbed a combined five games off of Ardiles, before coming up shy in a 6-2, 6-3 decision. Adams (1st),
Florian Anderson (4th), Goodman (5th) and
Nick Kohler (6th) all dropped matches in straight sets.Â
