HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Dickinson women's tennis team battled tooth-and-nail all afternoon against Asbury University on Thursday. Unfortunately, for the Red and White the Eagles came out on the good side of the 5-4 scoreline at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Club.
Doubles (Eagles 2-1)
The second pair of
Ariana Goitz and
Alisa Steele remained unbeaten as a duo knocking off Megan Moore and Mikaela West by a final of 8-3.
Izzy Desjardins and
Martine Fierro at the top spot played a down-to-the-wire match versus Kourtney Kawata and Ariadna Zegarra falling in the end 8-6.
Dana Kleinman and
Molly Michel took four games off of Fernanda Heredia and Olivia Rogowski (8-4).Â
Singles (Tied 3-3)Â
Every match was decided in two sets as the Devils claimed a shutout victory at the two spot thanks to Goitz knocking off Moore (6-0, 6-0). She was then followed by Steele allowing just two games to West in a convincing 6-1, 6-1 triumph. The other win came in the six slot where
Anabelle Armendarez brought down Rogowski in consecutive sets 6-4, 6-1. Fierro seized a total of seven games from Zegarra at number one, but was not enough in a 4-6, 3-6 setback. Desjardins (5th) and Michel (4th) both took four games from their opposition, unfortunately the Eagles grabbed each match in two.Â

Dickinson (4-2) wraps up their spring break trip tomorrow with a matchup against Stockton University from New Jersey at Hilton Head High School. First serve is set for 9:30 am.
