GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Dickinson baseball team held multiple leads throughout the afternoon, but were unable to overcome five errors as the host Messiah University Falcons stopped the Red Devils 10-game winning streak with a 10-6 non-conference loss on Wednesday at Starry Baseball Field.

Inside the Game
Dickinson took the lead in the first when with one-out
Kenny Tagliareni was hit for the eighth time this season. A flyout by
Kaden Sigmon set the stage for
Christian Kim who delivered an RBI single ot left. Unfortunately for the Red and White the Falcons responded immediately as Dylan Beard was yard with one gone to tie the game, before a double by Joshua Ammons resulted in a two-run crank for Sam Zercher to give Messiah a 3-1 edge through one against DC starter
Austin Buzza. Walks to
Matt Torres and
Johnny Bruno started the top of the second for the Red and White. After a fielder's choice for
Ethan Sodl left runners at the corners with one away a sacrifice bunt by
Nathan Bowman plated Torres. The next man up was
Dylan Posencheg who worked a walk off of Chris Beatty to place runners at first and second for Tagliareni who plated both thanks to a two-run double down the right-field line to put DC ahead 4-3 heading to the home-half of the frame. However, once again Messiah had a response with their chance as an error and single had two on for Ammons which produced an RBI single to center to level things at 4-4 with two in the books.
In the third both teams went to the pen with Martin taking over for Beatty, while Walker appeared for the Red and White. Both men allowed runners during the frame, but allowed no runs. Dickinson tried to mount a little two-out thunder an inning later as knocks from Tagliareni and Sigmon had two on for Kim. Unfortunately, for DC he would fly out to center retiring the side. The Falcons flew ahead in the last of the fourth when a walk and passed ball allowed a two-run two-bagger by Ammons to plate one, before an error from Torres at second let Ammons hustle home for the 6-4 edge. Two more walks loaded the bags with one gone, but Walker settled down and recorded a strikeout along with a popup to end the frame.
Dickinson's offense would struggle to get anything going against home reliver Adam Dressler as a two out double for Bruno was the only hit for the visitors during that stretch. On the other side of the field
Koll Peichel replaced Walker for the fifth and set down the Falcons in order. Then in the sixth,
Pat Metzger entered for the Red and White. He would allow a single and walk with one gone, before finding his mojo and notching back-to-back strikeouts to retire the side. The Devils seemed to have something cooking during the seventh as a single by Sigmon and free pass to Kim, followed by a sac bunt from
Ryan Thompson had two in scoring position for
Campbell Brusman. He squared off against another new pitcher in Aaron Renninger and worked a walk to load the bags. However, the potential rally came to a halt as Bruno went down on strikes and Sodl grounded out to wrap up the inning.
Thomas Marshman had a rocky go on the hill in the home-half as two errors resulted in one coming home while, a walk to Beard and error with Ammons at the dish led to a three-run blast by Zercher to make it 10-4 heading to the eighth.
Over the final two frames DC found two more runs as an error and single put runners at second and third for Sigmon with one gone. During his AB a wild pitch by new man Christian Foltz scored one. After Sigmon walked to have men at the corners Thompson ripped one through the right-side to cut it down to 10-6. Bowman provided a two-out knock in the ninth, but Posencheg flew out to end the game.
