Devils Unable to Row Past Shorewomen on Sunday

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's tennis team returned home on Sunday afternoon to battle the Shorewomen of Washington College in a Centennial Conference showdown. Unfortunately, for the Red and White despite their early success in singles they were unable to leave the Hays Tennis Courts with a victory falling 6-3.

Doubles (Shorewomen 3-0)
The second pair of Ariana Goitz and Alisa Steele came the closest to claiming a point for the Devils during the doubles action, but dropped a 6-8 decision to Soleil Namunyola and Piper Sartison. Izzy Desjardins and Martine Fierro battled hard, however went down 4-8 against Eva Kading and M.C. Diaz-Nazario. The duo of Anabelle Armendarez and Dana Kleinman suffered a 3-8 loss to Katie Ruppert and Isabella Sorhegui.

Singles (Tied 3-3)
Dickinson would grab their only three points of the match early in singles winning at the top three slots. First, Fierro was too much for Namunyola 6-2, 6-3, while Steele down at three defeated Sartison by identical scores 6-3, 6-3. Goitz in the second spot won a first set tiebreaker over Kading (7-5), before taking her down 6-3 in the second. Desjardins playing at four gave it a good showing against Bin Nguyen, but went down 3-6, 4-6. Molly Michel won a combined five games from Sorhegui (4-6, 1-6), while Armendarez also dropped straight sets (0-6, 1-6).

Next on the Court
Dickinson (5-9, 0-4 Centennial) will go in search of conference win number one on Wednesday when they head to Allentown for a date with the Mules of Muhlenberg College at 4pm.
