CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's tennis team used a combination of solid doubles play along with success at both ends of the singles ladder to claim a 6-3 non-conference win over the visiting DeSales University Bulldogs on Monday afternoon at the Hays Tennis Courts.
Doubles (Devils 2-1)
The Red and White watched the third unit of
Florian Anderson and
Spencer Goodman take care of Thomas Blomquist and Mark Sherrill 8-6. After the pair of
DJ Finnell and
Levi Veleanu were edged out 7-8 (4-7 tiebreaker), the top team of
Garrick Adams and
Thomas Griffin locked up the doubles for the Devils with an 8-4 victory against Augie Citrone and Philip Ritchie.Â
Singles (Devils 4-2)
The Bulldogs pulled even at 2-2 thanks to a win at three singles by Kiernan over Veleanu (1-6, 1-6). Dickinson reclaimed the lead when Finnell had too much in the tank for Will Pollick (6-2, 6-1). The Red and White added onto their advantage with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph from Adams against Citrone. It became 5-2 Devils when Griffin brought down Ritchie in the two spot by identical scores of 6-4, 6-4. Then, at the sixth slot it was Anderson who took care of Zachary Marshall in three sets (6-2, 4-6, 1-0) with a 7-3 win in the super tiebreak. The Bulldogs collected the final point of the night thanks to Sherrill knocking off
Will Lewis in three (3-6, 6-4, 0-1).
Next on the Court
Dickinson (4-10, 1-5 Centennial) gets back to conference play tomorrow afternoon at 4pm when they head down to Gettysburg to battle the Bullets.Â
