Inside the Game
The first two-and-a-half innings went by with neither side mounting any kind of threat. After two quick outs in the home-half a walk and stolen base for
Kenny Tagliareni led to an RBI single through the right side by
Andrew Mazzone for the 1-0 lead. A single from
Kaden Sigmon put two on base, but a groundout for
Derek Smith ended the frame. The following frame the Devils added onto their lead as consecutive one-out free passes to
Ryan Thompson and
Christian Kim chase GC starter Ryan Wootten from the game and brought on Connor Stewart. He would watch
Dylan Posencheg make it 3-0 with a two-bagger out to center, unfortunately he was thrown out trying to advance to third wrapping up the rally. Dickinson continued to chip away with another run during the fifth when singles from Mazzone and Smith coupled with a walk to Smith filled the bags with two away. A bases-loaded free pass to Thompson extended the margin to 4-0. That brought on another new arm for the Bullets as Anthony Dadio came in with bases juiced and got a strikeout along with a groundout to allow no more damage.
Gettysburg's best chance occurred in the top of the seventh when with two-out a pair of hits from Kyle Miller and Jack Pistner placed runners on second and third. A walk then loaded the cushions for Mark Seibert. He would not face Buzza however as Bien entered to take him on and got Seibert swinging through strike three to move the game to the last of the seventh. A double from Smith and single for
Matt Torres had men on the corners for Thompson. He would reach on an error on a sacrifice bunt attempt to score one. The second sacrifice bunt of the frame coming from Kim had two in scoring position for Posencheg. His infield single drove home Torres, before
Nathan Bowman deposited one through the right-side stretching it out to 7-0 entering the eighth. The Bullets would have one base runner in each of the final two frames, but could do nothing with them as Bien got Kirby to look at strike three to end the game.
