Devils Finally On the Right Side of One-Point Match

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's tennis team found a lot of success at the top of the ladder on Sunday afternoon en route to securing their first one-point win of the season as the Red and White toppled the host Ursinus College 5-4 in Centennial Conference action.

Doubles (DEVILS 2-1)
The Devils were out of the blocks strong as the second pair of Ariana Goitz and Alisa Steele took care of Claire Burke and Ava Compagnoni by a score of 8-5. Izzy Desjardins and Martine Fierro brought down Allie Armour and Shannon Stewart 8-5 at the top spot. At the three slot Dana Kleinman and Molly Michel fought hard against Avery Samer and Bella Vassalluzzo, but came up short 4-8.

Singles (Tied 3-3)
Ursinus pulled even to begin singles as Samer downed Anabelle Armendarez by a score of 1-6, 5-7. The next three matches to finish would clinch the match for Dickinson with win by Steele over Stewart at three 7-5, 6-2 made it 3-2, before a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 triumph by Fierro over Armour put the Devs just one point away from victory. That winning point was secured by Goitz at two as she traded sets with Burke, prior to locking up the third 6-4 for the win. Kleinman playing at six gave it all against Fiona Finnerty, but ultimately fell 7-5, 4-6, 5-10. The other DC combatant was Desjardins as she took on Compagnoni, unfortunately dropping a 4-6, 1-6 decision.
