LOUISVILLE, Kent. - The Dickinson men's lacrosse team continued to add onto their impressive season on Thursday when they had five members garner All-American honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA). Senior goalkeeper
Chris Brandau received Second Team honors, while redshirt junior midfielder
James Isaacson landed a spot on the Third Team. The trio of senior midfielder
Will Farrell, redshirt junior long-stick midfielder
Seamus McCloskey and junior faceoff specialist
John McKee all received Honorable Mention.
Brandau, a two-time All-American made all 21 starts for the Red and White finishing with a 17-4 record between the pipes posting a .540 save percentage to go along with a strong 9.08 goal-against average. He has made double-digit saves in nine of his 21 appearances, with a season-high 17 coming in an impressive 12-7 road win over sixth-ranked Gettysburg College. In three NCAA Tournament Games Brandau notched 29 stops, while allowing 25 goals against which included an outstanding three in a dominant 19-3 second round win over John Carroll at Biddle.
Farrell also a two-time All-American appeared in all 21 games, making 20 starts picking up 39 points to rank fourth on the team thanks to 30 markers and nine helpers. The midfielder also put in work at the other end of the field picking up a dozen groundballs and forced nine turnovers. Farrell recorded nine multi-point games, which included a season high six (5 G, 1 A) on eight shots (six on goal) as the Red and White knocked 13th-ranked Cabrini University 16-11 in Radnor on March 4th. In a two-game stretch against Washington (Md.) and McDaniel he combined for seven goals and two helpers on 14 shots (11 on goal), while chipping in one groundball and causing one turnover. He tallied at least one goal in all three of the Devils NCAA Tournament contests, bagging team in the Quarterfinal versus Christopher Newport.
Isaacson made 18 starts in 20 games played totaling 62 points on a team-high 42 goals and chipping in 20 helpers which ranked second on the squad. On the defensive side of the rock, he caused six opponent miscues and ran down 23 free balls. The junior finished the season with 13 multi-goal games, which included a season-high six at home on April 8th (5 G, 1 A). Earlier this season from March 11th to April 15th he put together a nine-game goal streak where he totaled 23 markers. During the Devils run in the NCAA Tournament he picked up four goals and four assists to finish with eight points. Isaacson will also carry a 24-game point streak that dates back to the Centennial Conference Championship game last season into the 2024 campaign.
McCloskey started in all 21 games this season for the Red and White using a well-balanced defensive effort scooping up 47 loose balls and forcing 20 turnovers. He recorded at least one groundball in all but two games with a season-high five coming at home versus Illinois Wesleyan University on March 11th. He also has four games with multiple caused turnovers, including a season-high three in a win over Roanoke College (2/26). Over the Devils five-game postseason charge, McCloskey got to eleven groundballs and forced four giveaways.
McKee made an appearance in every game for DC during the 2023 season serving as the top-man at the faceoff X for the Red and White. He led the conference with 291 wins going 291-460 for a .633 win percentage. McKee also wrote himself into the Dickinson record books this season as his 291 wins set the best mark in school history for a single season. This year he won 15 or more faceoffs ten times, including limiting his opponents to single digit wins 13 times. Two of his best outputs of the year came against Stevens (2/18) where he won 18 of 21 and then versus the very same Ducks on May 14th during the NCAA Tournament as he took 21 of 25.
