GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Dickinson men's soccer continued to look for their first Centennial Conference win on Wednesday night by visiting the rival Gettysburg College Bullets at Clark Field. Unfortunately, for the Red and White a 16th-minute goal by Noah Holgado was enough to give the Bullets a 1-0 conference win.
Early chippy play on both sides led to fouls and free kicks for each side, but none resulted in a shot until the fifth-minute when
Ethan Jarden let one fly over the head of Kevin Muhic. After Gettysburg got a pair of chances from Michael Sack however neither forced a save out of DC keeper
Alexander Henrich. Unfortunately, for the Devils with 15:41 off the home side would strike when a cross from James Blake came to Holgado for the finish. Two minutes later Dickinson got back on the front-foot as a corner led to an attempt from
Jackson Wolf that missed to the left. Each team recorded two more shots over the final ten minutes with each keeper making a stop as Henrich turned away Athi Msiza, while at the other end Muhic denied
Johnny Diederich to send the match to half.
The opening seven minutes of the second period saw Dickinson apply all the pressure as
Tyson Burling missed the target twice, while
Alex Spiegel was turned aside by Muhich off a corner kick. After a wide shot from Chase Sempervive, the Red and White continued to keep blasting shots towards goal as
Saul Iwowo and Diederich went off target, while Burling was shutdown by Muhic in the 69th. The Devils defense would be lockdown the remainder of the match as they did not allow another shot to Gettysburg the rest of the evening. However, the final three attempts from the Red and White inside the final five minutes that came from
Connor Uitterdijk, Iwowo and Jarden only tasked Muhic with making just one for save to preserve the victory.
