BALTIMORE - The fourth-seeded Dickinson men's soccer team dominated the first-half on Friday night at Homewood Field against the top-seeded Johns Hopkins University as the Red and White held a sizable 16-3 edge in shots through 45 minutes. However, with the Devils unable to cash in the host Blue Jays rallied at the break to post a 3-0 win in the Centennial Conference Semifinals.
- The Devils were all over the home side for the opening 15 minutes recording the first eleven shots of the match thanks to Nicholas Dwamena, Luke Finkielstein, Westin Fryberger, Ethan Jarden, Saul Iwowo and Jeremy Sallade. However, Simon Turner was there to make four stops.
- The two sides shared the ensuing four chances with Luke Beiles missing high, while Turner had the answer for Iwowo once again with 28 minutes off the clock.
- DC keeper Aidan George was then called upon twice to turn away both Patel Arnav and Ian Whamond.
- Dwamena and Iwowo would ask one more question of Turner prior to half as the match went to the break at 0-0.
- The Red and White held a significant 16-3 edge in shots (7-2 on target).Â
- The hosts needed just over three minutes to break the draw with Jonathan Cui taking down a pass from Francis Meyer and besting George.
- Dickinson had the next two chances as Turner denied both Timi Omoniwa and Beiles.Â
- Hopkins then pinned the Devils back in their defensive half over the next 20 minutes recording the ensuing six shots with George making one stop, while also being solved by Patel for a 2-0 lead.
- Turner continued to just be a huge thorn in the Devils side beating aside two chances for Dwamena and one for Alex Spiegel.
- Hopkins would set the 3-0 final with just over two minutes left when Patel played a pass to Whamond who slipped a shot just inside the far post.
