LANCASTER, Pa. - After having their season opener pushed back a few extra days the Dickinson baseball team began the 2024 campaign with an offensive explosion as
Kaden Sigmon led the way with eight RBIs in a 22-6 non-conference win over the Lancaster Bible College Chargers.

Pitching Decision: W -
Koll Peichel (1-0) | L - Andrew Workman (0-1)
Inside the Game
A walk for
Kenny Tagliareni and a plunked
Nathan Bowman put two on and no out to start the game. That brought Sigmon to the dish and he sent the Workman offering over the fence for the 3-0 lead. Then, in the bottom of the first, four hits including home runs by Nick Colarossi and Dylan Witkowski gave the home side a 5-3 edge against Peichel entering the second. Following a groundout from
Desmond Watkins,
Luke Gartland singled to left and Tagliareni along with Bowman repeated their performances from the first setting the stage for Sigmon again with one away. He would drive in four more with his second bomb of the game to reclaim a 7-5 lead. Then after a lineout for
Matt Torres,
Ryan Thompson collected homer number three of the day for the Devils making it 8-5. Peichel would allow two runners in the home-half of the frame, but a strikeout and double play retired the side to move things to the third.
The offensive outburst then took a brief rest over the next two innings, until consecutive doubles from Gartland and Tagliareni kicked off the fifth making it 9-5. A walk to Bowman had two on and none out for Sigmon who bagged RBI number eight to plate Tagliareni, while Bowman hustled home on a miscue from the centerfielder (11-5). A knock for Torres put two more in scoring position for Thompson who added to his total with a two-run single to right. He would then score a few batters later on a wild pitch, but Gartland struck out for the final out of the frame leaving it at 14-5 to the bottom-half. With two away and the bases empty, Harrison Hobdy sent the Peichel outta of the park to close within 14-6 entering the sixth. For the third time in the game Tagliareni walked and Bowman was hit by a pitch, before Sigmon worked out a free pass to fill the bags with Devils and no outs. That brought Logan Kline into the contest and he immediately walked Torres to force in a run. Following a strikeout by Thompson,
Chase Weller pinched hit for
Ethan Sodl and he kept the train rolling with a hit to left driving home one. Then, in stepped
Christian Kim and he plated two more thanks to a double to deep left-center. A walk to
Josh Markley loaded the bases again for DC, which allowed a sacrifice fly by Gartland to score one, prior to Tagliareni knocking the Bryce Schmidt pitch over the wall stretching it to 22-6 heading to the bottom half.
Nathan Weisoly entered the game on the mound for the Devils and shut the door the rest of the way.
