Box Score HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Dickinson men's tennis team saw their unbeaten run come to an end on Monday evening with a slim 5-4 setback to Webster University at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Club.
Doubles (DEVILS 2-1)
After the top pair of
DJ Finnell and
Levi Veleanu were upended by a score of 8-2, the other two Dickinson teams of
Drew Allen and
Eddy Chow (2nd) as well as
Romano De Caprio and
Aidan MacIntosh (3rd) each collected wins of 8-6 to give the Red and White the lead heading into singles.
Singles (Gorloks 4-2)
Webster began singles with Matthew Birchmeier downing Veleanu at one in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Followed by a 6-3, 6-1 triumph for Carson Fisher over Finnell (3rd) and a two-set victory by Ethan Foucheaux against De Caprio (2nd) (6-4, 7-5). The Gorloks then locked up the match at the fourth spot where Robert McDaniel held off
Sid Ramaswamy by scores of 6-3, 6-2 to make it 5-2. Dickinson picked up two wins at the bottom of the ladder as
Will Lewis went 6-3, 6-3 versus Jack Forlenza at five, while Allen had too much for Tyler Gonzales in the sixth slot (6-0, 6-3).
The Next Serve
Dickinson (6-1) will take a day off, before returning to action on Wednesday when they take on the Cardinals of Catholic University beginning at high noon on the Chaplin Park courts.
