HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Dickinson men's tennis team got back on the winning track on Wednesday afternoon at Chaplin Park with a dominating 7-2 non-conference victory over the Cardinals of Catholic University.
Doubles (DEVILS 2-1)
The Devils began the day with the third pair of
Drew Allen and
Eddy Chow knocking off Lucas Boyle and Leyton Ramos-Platt by a score of 8-2. The next match to finish was the second duo as
DJ Finnell and
Levi Veleanu collected an 8-4 win against Henry Ogden/Charles Robbins. Dickinson suffered their only loss in the top slot where James Earwood and Diego Romo took down
Romano De Caprio and
Will Lewis (8-5).
Singles (DEVILS 5-1)
The top two spots in the ladder required super tiebreakers with Earwood beating Veleanu at one (10-8), while in the second position De Caprio earned a 10-5 triumph against Romo. The Red and White used another super tiebreak victory at three to grab a 4-2 lead in the match when Finnell bested Ogden by a score of 10-6. Dickinson then nabbed a pair of straight set wins at four and five thanks to Lewis (6-4, 6-3) and Allen (6-0, 7-5).
Aidan MacIntosh needed the fourth super tiebreak of the match in the sixth slot where he edged out Ramos-Platt, 10-7.
The Next Serve
Dickinson (7-1) closes out their spring trip on Friday morning at 10am when they square-off with the Hornets of Shenandoah University at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Club.
