HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Dickinson women's tennis team continued their dominance of their opponents during their Spring Break trip by flying past the Avenging Angels of Meredith College by a score of 7-2 at Hilton Head High School on Thursday morning.
Doubles (DEVILS 2-1)
Dickinson opened up the match with the pair of
Alisa Steele and
Bonnie Thomas allowing just one game to Hannah Higgins and Claire Southern in an 8-1 win. A spot later the duo of Anna Bittler and Ellie Osborne had too much for
Sara Jaklitsch and
Dana Kleinman picking up a 1-8 victory. The Red and White went into the singles portion up by one as
Maddie Lindquist and
Molly Michel grabbed a win by default.
Singles (DEVILS 5-1)
The Devils started things off with a bang as Steele (1st) brought down Osborne in "grand fashion" 6-0, 6-0. The next match to end was at the fourth spot where Lindquist allowed just four games to Bittler in a 6-1, 6-3 triumph. Meredith grabbed their only singles win at three with Higgins holding off Kleinman (4-6, 0-6). Michel would have to go the distance against Southern in the two slot winning the super tiebreaker by a score of 10-7. Dickinson also claimed two wins in the fifth and sixth spots as
Katharine van Kesteren knocked off Zoe Jones and Jaklitsch had no opponent to face.
The Next Serve
Dickinson (6-1) will attempt to complete a flawless run in South Carolina tomorrow morning at 10am when they battle the Hornets of Shenandoah University on the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Club courts.
