Inside the Game
Dickinson starter
Austin Buzza started strong with a lineout and flyout to the first two batters, but then Jack Pistner smacked a home run to right for a 1-0 lead entering the bottom-half.
Dylan Posencheg came up with a one-out single against Ian Gannaway, unfortunately,
Ryan Thompson bounced into an inning-ending double-play. The game stayed that way until the bottom of the third as three straight walks to
Christian Kim,
Luke Gartland and
Kenny Tagliareni loaded the bags with no outs for Posencheg. He produced a sacrifice fly to center, before two batters later Gartland crossed on a wild pitch to grab a 2-1 lead through three. The Bullets had an immediate answer during the top of the fourth when a leadoff walk to Pistner set the stage for three straight singles plating a pair of runs to reclaim a 3-2 lead heading to the home-half. Back-to-back hit batters and an error had the cushions filled for
Josh Markley. That brought Kunst in from the bullpen and he allowed a sac fly to Markley, followed by an RBI single to left by Kim to make it 4-3 with one gone. A free pass to Gartland re-loaded the bags for Tagliareni. He would face the third pitcher of the frame as Tyler Hillson entered and surrendered an RBI single to Tagliareni, walk to Posencheg and RBI hit batter for Thompson plated two more (7-3). Bruno Spadafora then became the fourth arm of the inning issuing a sac fly to
Kaden Sigmon, prior to getting
Matt Torres to lineout for the final out leaving it at 8-3 heading to the fifth.Â
Gettysburg appeared to be on their way to being shutdown in the top half getting the first two out, but then two walks, a single and a DC miscue resulted in two coming across to close the gap to 8-5. That brought
Glen Cantalupo Jr. into the contest to spell Buzza and he got Matt Nichols to flyout to Posencheg in center for the last out. The game would not see anymore scoring until the bottom of the eighth as Sangiuolo took over on the hill during the top-half of the sixth and slammed the door on the Gettysburg offense, while Tex Detroyer didn't allow any damage to come from the Red and White. However, Mike Maratea would run into major trouble in the last of eighth when with one out a single by Posencheg and walk to Thompson resulted in men being on the corners for Sigmon. During his at-bat a wild pitch plated one, before he ripped a single to center scoring Thompson making it 10-5. Two batters later pinch-hitter
Johnny Bruno closed out the scoring with a two-run rocket off the scoreboard in deep left for the 12-5 final as Sanguiolo retired three of four in the ninth.

Buzza went the first 4.2 innings allowing five hits and five runs (four earned) with two strikeouts and five walks. Cantalupo Jr. tossed the next frame issuing three walks, but not giving up any hits or runs.
