LANCASTER, Pa. – The Dickinson baseball team had their pursuit of a number two seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference tournament hit another speed-bump on Friday afternoon as the host Franklin & Marshall College broke open a 3-3 game with a four-run sixth to secure a season sweep of the Red and White with an 8-5 conference win at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

Following a quiet top of the first for F&M starter Peter Mullen, the home side went to work in home-half against
Ben Myers. Back-to-back doubles for Spencer Berson and Bobby Falese made it 1-0, before Myers settled down with three straight strikeouts. Then, in the top of the second
Matt Torres led off with a single, stole second and third, while
Josh Markley walked to put two on with two down for
Dylan Posencheg. He produced in a big way with a two-run single to right giving the Devils a 2-1 edge after two innings. Dickinson would be turned away in order during the fop of the third to keep it at 2-1. However, the last of the third saw singles by Berson and Drew Butera along with a double for Jakob Hoffman result in two coming across for the Diplomats putting them back in front 3-2 entering the fourth. F&M threatened to extend their advantage during the bottom portion of the frame as two singles and a wild pitch placed two in scoring position with two away.
Joey Sangiuolo was then called upon to navigate the jam and got Falese to flyout to left retiring the side. Dickinson eventually tied things back up in the top of the fifth as with one down
Kenny Tagliareni was hit by a Mullen offering and
Luke Gartland singled to center placing men on the corners for
Ryan Thompson. He grounded out to second for the second out, but Tagliareni was able to hustle home.
Kaden Sigmon would then go down on strikes after a lengthy at-bat to finish off the rally. A hit batter and walk for the home side in the last of fifth yielded no results against Sangiuolo.
Dan Galef took over on the hill for Mullen in the top of the sixth and setdown Torres,
Johnny Bruno and Markley in order. F&M did in fact reclaim the lead during the home-half as pinch-hitter Nolan McCloskey ledoff with a solo homer to right. The Diplomats continued to apply pressure with two singles, hit batter and a fielder's choice leading to men everywhere with two away for Butera. He needed just one pitch to clear the bags with a double into left making it 7-3 through six. The lead would hold until the bottom of the seventh when a walk and hit batter issued by reliever
Dylan Robinson set the stage for an RBI single by Michael von Zuben to push the margin to five 8-3. Dickinson finally got to Galef in the eighth as knocks from Thompson and Sigmon coupled with a walk to Bruno filled the cushions with two away. Markley ripped a two-run single up the middle before Kim struck out to retire the side. Unfortunately, the Red and White got no closer as Thomas McLaughlin nailed down the save with a "three-up, three-down" ninth.

The On-Deck Circle
Dickinson (24-10, 11-5 Centennial) now finds themselves heading into the final day of the regular season not knowing their postseason fate quite yet as they welcome Swarthmore College to MacPhail Field for a Senior Day "double dip" on Saturday beginning at 12pm.
