CARLISLE Pa. – The Dickinson men's squash team continued to showcase some solid performances on Saturday afternoon, but ultimately fell to the 11th-ranked Williams College Ephs by a score 7-2 inside the Kline Squash Center.
Inside the Match
The Red Devils faced a tall task, facing a team who is 17 places ahead of them in the national rankings. The two Red Devil wins came in the top two flights, with junior Joe Smythe leaving his opponent stunned, winning in a comfortable three games. The match of the day came in the second flight, with Omar Ali surviving a grueling one hour 40-minute match, including a 29-minute first game, winning the match finally 12-10 in the fifth game. There were also some terrific performances scattered in the losses, with first-year Owen Buroker playing well above his rating, went down in a close four game match. Graduate student Sam Knipp also had a strong performance, but was tripped up in three games. Everyone else lost in three games, however, the team can take some confidence from a good showing into their next match on Monday.
