CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Dickinson men's squash team ran into stiff competition on Saturday afternoon as the fifth-ranked Cavaliers of the University of Virginia (UVA) posted a 9-0 victory over the Red and White. The Red Devils now have a record of 3-12 and are heading into a critical stretch of matches where they need to find some winning results.
Inside the Match
The 27th-ranked Red Devils were facing an uphill battle heading into today's match, as #5 UVA are pushing for a national championship and have a very deep lineup. The Red Devils were unable to find a game in any of the ten matches, despite an extremely high level of squash being played. Junior Joe Smythe was the closest of the team, narrowly losing the first two game 11-9 and 11-8. Smythe was able to find the nick on numerous occasions, wowing those in attendance, but Elbarbary was too skillful and closed out the match. First-year Noah George also played exceptionally well in the fourth flight, keeping it close with former Franklin and Marshall transfer Petr Nohel. Junior Cormac Sullivan and first-year Owen Buroker also had stand-out performances, doing the red and white proud.
