CARLISLE, Pa. - The 13th-ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team got goals from eleven different players and built up an 11-3 halftime edge en route to rolling past the visiting Kenyon College Owls by a score of 18-5 in non-conference action at Biddle Field on Wednesday.
- The two keepers were busy early as DC's Rocco Bognet and Kenyon's Adam Hall were tasked with making a pair of stops each within the opening three minutes.
- Dickinson's offense then got on track as a groundball picked up by Evan Karetsos led to Ethan Gess finding Hagen McTear for the first of the day. That was immediately followed by a tally for Ben Trucksess off the ensuing draw and Luke Whalen striking unassisted for a 3-0 lead not even five minutes in.
- Rollins Heath stopped the run with a tally of his own, but McTear and Gess (Trucksess assist) answered right back for the Red and White to take a 5-1 lead with 6:52 gone.
- Heath would collect his second of the period with 4:26 left to cap the scoring and lead it at 5-2 after 15 minutes.
- Dickinson needed just 52-seconds to take advantage of another Trucksess win at the X as Cullen Mulhern ripped a shot past Hall.
- Following two more stops by Bognet, Jack Broderick went back down the field and missed the mark with a shot, but fellow rookie Tommy Baldini buried the rock for a 7-2 edge with 11:33 to play.
- The Owls responded off the ensuing faceoff with Mike Kapral setting up David Chintala for the finish.
- Kenyon tried to kickoff a run of their own by getting another one past Bognet, but the DC keeper denied Kapral. That allowed the Red and White to then break things open scoring on four of their next five shots to jump ahead 11-3 with goals coming from Ramsey Huggins, Jack Schutte, Matt Thurston and Mulhern.
- An early turnover forced by Capp Reynolds led to Baldini tracking down the loose ball and getting it ahead to Huggins for the finish with two minutes gone.
- Preston Boyd, Gess and Whalen all tried to add onto the lead, but Hall was there to throw up the wall on all three chances.
- The two sides split the next four shots with Miles Malawer being turned aside by Bognet, before Lucas Flynn solved the DC netminder to make it 12-4 with 5:08 left.
- However, Dickinson made sure the Owls could not find any momentum as Landen Hyatt and Whalen found the back of the next prior to the end of the quarter stretching it out to 14-4 with a period to go.
- The common theme of Bognet making a stop at one end leading to an immediate Devils goal continued less than two minutes in when Thurston slammed one in.
- After each goalie made two more stops, Thurston netted his second of the period with another spectacular finish to make it 16-4.
- Chintala would take advantage of a man-up opportunity at the five minute mark trimming the gap to 16-5.
- That would be the final action for Bognet of the evening as the duo of Ben Tompkins and Josef Zyngier would close out the game between the pipes, while at the other end Taner Marusa and Hyatt each solved Hall to set the 18-5 final.
