Final Score - DEVILS 14, Green Terror 2 (F/7)
Records - Dickinson (16-16, 7-8 CC) | McDaniel (16-19-1, 7-8Â CC)
Pitching Decision - W -
Charlie Bien (1-2) | L - Tyson Nercessian (0-3)
- Bien allow a two-out free pass to Ben Davis, but got Shea McKenna to groundout to short for the final out.
- Then in the home-half, the Red and White exploded sending 14 men to the plate, collecting seven hits and scoring nine times. A single for Ryan Thompson and Josh Markley being hit by a pitch set the stage for Kevin Schmidt to single into left for a 1-0 edge. After Matt Torres was plunked, three consecutive singles by Kaden Sigmon, Luke Gartland and Kyle Bailey resulted in four more coming home to take the 5-0 edge. Once Christian Kim was hit, Nercessian's day was done and brought on Conor Henderson. He would get Nathan Bowman to popout to first for out number one, before singles off the bats of Thompsona and Markley extended it to 8-0, followed by a sacrifice fly from Schmidt to set the 9-0 scoreline.
- Bien once again allowed a walk in the visitor portion of the frame with two away, prior to Matt Fuller hitting a hot liner to first that was snagged by Kim to retire the side.
- Gartland began the bottom-half with a double to left and then went to third on a flyout, before crossing home of Kim's grounder. Then, with two gone, Bowman rattled the fence picking up a triple to deep right-center. He was then supported by Thompson notching a single to right pushing the gap to 11-0 through two.
- Bien gave up another runner thanks to a leadoff hit batter, but then pitched around posting two popouts and a strikeout.Â
- Dickinson extended it to 12-0 immediately during the last part of the frame as Schmidt opened things up with a BOMB to deep right. A hit batter and walk gave DC a chance to add on, unfortunately a pair of flyouts and groundout closed the rally.
- Bien continued to be excellent allowing one runner during the fourth, before recording his first "three-up, three-down" inning in the fifth.
- With one out, three straight walks to Torres, Sigmon and Gartland filled the pillows for Bailey. He reached on an error to score one, prior to Kim sending one into right for a sac making the lead 14-0 entering the sixth.
- Bien was finally tagged for a hit against in the top-half when with one gone, Davis ripped a two-bagger into center. Fortunately, back-to-back pop-ups fielded by Torres at second retired the side.
- With McDaniel facing the run-rule, base hits by Thomas Mezzullo and Quinn Dean had men on the corners for Zach Gaeta. He would groundout to third breaking the shutout and two batters later Ethan Haddock reached on a DC miscue to plate the second run. However, the visitors would get no closer as Shane Daly grounded out to third ending the game at 14-2.
