ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Dickinson men's outdoor track and field first-year athlete
Franklyn Akabi-During collected three wins on Saturday to key a big day for the Red and White at the Muhlenberg College Invite.
Sprints
Akabi-During opened things up for the Devils with a first-place finish in the 100m with a 10.75 which was good for the 16th-best time in Division III this year.
Darian Crim joined him within the Top-10 by clocking in at 11.06 for sixth.
William O'Connor and
Matthew Greenley nabbed 18th (11.66) and 22nd (11.87) respectively. When ten extra meters and hurdles were added to the mix Brendan Regan did enough to earn sixth at 17.73.
Akabi-During claimed his second victory of the during the 200m as his mark of 21.65 was the 23rd-best in Division III. He was followed closely by Crim at 22.28 for second, while O'Connor and
Ian Gormley nabbed slots 12 (23.20) and 14 (23.39). Greenley also competed getting to the line in 24.08 to land in 24th.
A trio of Devils went to work for the 400m with Gormley completing the podium with a time of 51.97, followed by
Sean Harris in 14th (56.18) and
Tim Gross two behind him at 56.33. With the hurdles placed back on the track Regan closed out the Top-5 by clocking in at 59.65, while
Benjamin Dench hit in 12th thanks to a 1:04.51.
Distance
The 800m saw a large group of Dickinson athletes take to the track as
Owen Buroker finished out the podium with a time of 1:58.29.
Matthew Gareau capped off the Top-15 by crossing in 2:03.63. The trio of
Avi Ghorai (23rd - 2:08.40),
Tyler Erdmann (26th - 2:09.14) and
Max Collins (30th - 2:13.04) also did battle in the event.
Dickinson sent another large group to the track for the 1500m with Ghorai leading the crew in sixth place at 4:10.78, followed by
Alex Hansen (12th - 4:14.71),
Travis Knaggs (20th - 4:27.12),
Matthew Colden (28th - 4:36.23) and
Jack Solovey (30th - 4:47.03).
The duo of
Benjamin Moseman and
William Kane earned Top-10 spots in the 5000m grabbing fourth (15:27.42) and seventh (15:38.11) respectively.
Relays
Three different teams competed during the 4x400m with the group of Akabi-During, Buroker, Crim and Regan winning the event with a 3:26.10, while the other units claimed tenth (3:42.71) and 17th (4:00.71).
Field
At the throwing area,
Oliver Stroka grabbed 15th for the discus after a toss of 32.98m.
Damon Buchanan just missed the podium in the javelin nabbing fourth (49.79m).Â
Greenley was the only member of the Red and White to do battle during the pole vault clearing 3.04m to seize ninth.
Next on the Track
The Red Devils return to action next Thursday for the start of the Messiah University Multi and Invite beginning at 2pm in Grantham.
