Regular Season Meeting - #18 DEVILS 11, #13 Garnet 9 (Biddle Field - Carlisle, Pa.)
The first two periods followed the same script. During the first it would be strikes from Luke Devlin and Joey Wood both setup by Parker Polgar for a 2-0 lead not even three minutes in. After a goal by Michael Hardiman cut it to 2-1 through one, Landen Hyatt along with Wood extended the gap to 4-1 with 5:54 left. Swarthmore cut it down to 4-2 going to halftime once again thanks to Hardiman inside the last 20 seconds. Coming out of the break, Mac Childs extended to 5-2, before Ryder Maston and Hyatt exchanged markers to have DC in front 6-3. Then the Garnet found their footing collecting three of the next four as Ramsey Huggins added one for the Devils to have the hosts up by one (7-6) entering the fourth. Dickinson used the opening two minutes to push their lead out 9-6 thanks to Ethan Gess and Hyatt (Childs assist). Markers for Owen Hoffman and Nolan Ohrman pulled the margin to within two on a pair of occasions, but Luke Whalen rippled the net with 86-seconds left making it 11-8. Maston tacked on one at the 14:04 mark to set the 11-9 result.

Inside the Devils Den (11-5, 7-1 Centennial)
Schedule Overview

Dickinson began the season with an 11-6 home setback to 13th-ranked Stevens, but then ripped off three straight wins against University of Scranton (7-2), Roanoke College (14-6) and Kenyon College (18-5). Then, some injuries took a toll on the Red and White for a bit as they were tripped up by a trio of nationally-ranked foes in #19 Stevenson University (10-16), #3 Rochester Institute of Technology (7-24) and #13 Washington and Lee University (8-11). However, coming out of that brutal stretch the Devils collected four consecutive conference victories over Washington College (15-8), McDaniel College (15-5), #13 Swarthmore College (11-9) and Ursinus College (17-6). Then, in one of the most anticipated games not only of the conference season, but in all of DIII lacrosse when the Red and White visited Gettysburg College for the top spot in the conference on the line. In one of the best games of the year that was "nip and tuck" all day long Whalen scored with a minute left to tie the game, before Ethan Kessler claimed an overtime winner to get the Bullets past DC (12-13). That setback just seemed to spark the Devils as they ended the regular season on a four-game winning streak versus St. Mary's College of Maryland (14-11), Franklin and Marshall College (9-8), Haverford College (15-5) and Muhlenberg College (11-7).

Chance to Four-Peat
Last year the Red and White became the first program to three-peat as Centennial Conference champion since the Dickinson programs of 2011, 2012 and 2013. This year's group of Red Devils will look to become the first school to post a four-peat since Gettysburg ran off six straight titles from 2004-2009.

Dynamic Duo
The duo of Gess and Hyatt have combined for an even 88 points on the campaign. Hyatt leads the team in goals with 35 and has chipped in four assists, while Gess has 18 markers with a team-high 23 helpers.

The Rest of the Attack
Dickinson has three other players that have tallied ten or more goals on the campaign led by Whalen with 22, followed by Huggins (20) and Tommy Baldini (12). The group of Charlie Baughan, Hagen McTear, Cullen Mulhern, Porter, Matt Thurston and Wood have each picked up at least five tallies combining for 40 markers. For the year, 30 different players have found the back of the net for the Red and White.

Sharing the Rock
While Gess and Huggins have been responsible for most of the Devils assists this season combining for 35, the group of Baldini, Baughan, Childs, Porter and Whalen have all handed out five or more.

Strong Defensive Backbone
After having to find their way a little early in the year the Dickinson defense has been a main reason that the Red and White find themselves back in the postseason as five players have forced double-digit turnovers, including a duo with 20 or more, Evan Karetsos ranks tops on the team and the conference with 36, while Ethan Ferrant has added 23. Capp Reynolds, Jack Deady and Ethan Ackerman have caused 19, 16 and 12 respectively. Huggins is approaching double-digits as well sitting on nine entering the playoffs.

Strong at the Dot
Ben Trucksess has been the main faceoff men for the Devils all year going 205-130 at the X for a .612 winning percentage. The 205 wins ranks tops in the Centennial Conference as well. The pair of Andrew Atkins and Ryan Backus have chipped in as well going 9-of-21 and 8-of-31 respectively.

The Keepers of the Cage
Rocco Bognet has been outstanding for Dickinson in his first season as the Devils primary starter. On the year, he holds a 8-5 record with a .493 save percentage and a 8.98 goals-against average which ranks him third in the conference. First-year Josef Zyngier has appeared in four games making two starts going 2-0 with a 6.70 save percentage and a . 548 save percentage, while Ben Tompkins has played nearly 70 minutes over five games recording 13 stops.

Seeing "Garnet" (12-4, 5-3 Centennial)
Swarthmore began their campaign with six straight wins, before dropping their first of the season to York College of Pennsylvania by a score of 10-11 in overtime. They then romped past Arcadia University (20-3), prior to losing two of their first three conference games to Gettysburg (11-12) and Dickinson (9-11). They ended the year strong winning four of their final five taking down Ursinus, McDaniel, Washington (Md.) and Haverford with the lone slip coming to Franklin & Marshall (12-14) at home. The visitors will bring a balanced attack into the matchup as they bring eight double-digit goal scorers with them to Carlisle with Michael Hardiman and Clay Almgren posting 49 and 38 respectively. Ryder Maston has also broken the 30-plus mark at 33. The rest of the group is made up of Danny Lowe (24), Owen Hoffman (19), Rex Mabbs (16), Nolan Ohrman (14) and Emmett Harris (11). The Devils will have to slow down the passing of Almgren who has a team-leading 41 helpers, followed by Mabbs (21), and the Hardiman, Maston Ohrman trio at ten each. At the faceoff X, Matthew Martinez is 148-213 with 83 groundballs, while Jack McHenry has added 110-161 nabbing 60 loose balls. Julian Cassinelli completes the Garnet's faceoff crew winning 41 additional faceoffs collecting 19 groundballs. Defensively, Jack Rice has forced a team-high 20 turnovers, in addition the unit of Samuel Ginsberg, Henry Kolyer and Almgren who had notched ten each. The Garnet have had six different players record time between the pipes this season, but thehy are anchored by Drew Tyson who has started 15 of 16 games posting an 11-4 mark with a 7.42 goals against average and .677 save percentage. Swarthmore is coached by Pat Gress in his 30th season.

Rest of the Tournament
In addition to the Devils and Garnet squaring off in one semifinal the other contest will take place at the Battlefield with the top-seeded Gettysburg College hosting the fourth-seeded Muhlenberg College at 7 p.m. The winners of the two semifinals will battle on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the highest remaining seed for the Centennial Conference crown and the NCAA Automatic Qualifier.
