LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson baseball team had four players recognized on Wednesday by the Centennial Conference as All-Conference performers. Senior catcher,
Ryan Thompson secured a place on First Team, while sophomore pitching duo
Ben Myers and
Drew Norton were tabbed for Honorable Mention. Senior infielder,
Christian Kim was selected for the All-Sportsmanship Team.
First Team
Thompson, the native of East Islip, New York, appeared in and started all 33 games hitting .380 from the leadoff spot with 139 hits, 106 runs scored, 91 RBIs, 29 doubles, five home runs and a pair of triples. He also added nearly 100 walks (98), while being hit 16 times and swiping 19 bags. In the field, he has racked up 248 putouts and added 30 assists for a .986 fielding percentage. During the course of the season he had ten multi-hit games and five multi-RBI games, including a season-high three in games against Messiah, California Lutheran and Franklin & Marshall. Defensively, he had six double-digit putout games, with a season-high 13 coming versus Gettysburg on April 9th on the road. Â
Honorable Mention
Myers, the resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was a huge part of the rotation particularly during conference play making nine appearances and recording seven starts posting a 3.89 ERA totaling 31 strikeouts over 39.1 innings pitched. In his first outing of the season back in February on road at Roanoke he allowed just one hit, while fanning three over five innings in a non-decision. He had two games with over five strikeouts tallying six and seven in back-to-back contests against Muhlenberg and Gettysburg respectively.Â
Norton, the native of Alexandria, Virginia, made 11 appearances, starting three games for the Red and White over the course of the season. He ended the year with a 2.92 ERA notching 26 strikeouts and holding his opponents batting average to just .182 over his 37 innings pitched. He collected a pair of saves to go along with a 2-3 record. His longest outing of the season came in his first win of the season against Juniata as he tossed six innings allowing just one hit and fanning a season-high five. In his second save of the year at home versus Washington (Md.) he went two frames not allowing a hit and striking out one.
