Summer Check-In
Where are you working/interning this summer? Company and Location.

I am a marketing intern at The Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus (MWPC) in Boston, Massachusetts.

Please describe your day-to-day responsibilities in this position.

In my role as a marketing intern, every Monday, we plan out the week in terms of content creation. There is a schedule we are following to stay on target with our goal of posting 2-3 times a week. After our Monday meetings, we work individually and collaborate with other marketing interns to bounce ideas off one another, make suggestions, and edit the content we have been working on throughout the week. I appreciate the flexibility of this role because it allows individuals to demonstrate their eagerness to jump on a new project and embrace each intern's specific marketing style.

What made this experience appealing to you?

This experience was appealing to me because I wanted to gain experience in a marketing role, but was also interested in working for an organization that supports and uplifts women. The MWPC is a nonprofit organization that endorses and encourages female representatives to get into office, as well as women who are already in office. This sense of community inspired me to join the team, where everyone works together towards a positive, common goal.

How does this experience relate to your career or life aspirations? What are you looking to personally get out of it?

Currently, I’m still figuring out what I want to do with my career, but I know I want my work to be meaningful and have a positive impact. Working for a nonprofit has shown me how fulfilling it can be to contribute to a cause I believe in. Being part of the marketing team has sparked a new interest in how media can engage audiences and promote important messages. I’m hoping to continue building on these skills and gain a deeper understanding of how marketing and communication can support impactful work.

How has your athletics career prepared you for this role?

Athletics has played a huge role in preparing me for this position. As a student athlete, I’ve learned the importance of organization and planning. Balancing classes, practices, and games has strengthened my time management skills and taught me to prioritize my responsibilities. I’m eager to take on new challenges and look for ways to improve; many of these qualities I have developed throughout my time playing softball. Applying the proactive mindset I have gained over the years from athletics to my academics and professional work has helped me to be successful.

What are you looking forward to for this upcoming year for your sport?

This year, I am looking forward to our team being a cohesive unit. This year, we are dedicated to working on the little things for the big things to happen. I am hoping DCSB has a strong, consistent, and successful season.

Is there anything else you are looking forward to this summer outside of this experience?

Aside from my internship, I am looking forward to slowing down and spending time with my friends and family this summer.
