Summer Check-In

Where are you working/interning this summer? Company and Location.

Lehigh Valley IronPigs / Allentown, PA / Game Day Business Intern

Please describe your day-to-day responsibilities in this position.

In my role with the IronPigs, I assist with a variety of game day operations across multiple departments, including marketing, ticket sales, promotions, concessions, security, and giveaways. Each day looks a little different, but my main focus is helping ensure that everything runs smoothly and that fans have a great experience at the ballpark.

What made this experience appealing to you?

It seemed like an awesome chance to learn more about the business side of baseball. I’ve always been a huge Phillies fan, so the chance to work with the IronPigs stood out as a unique way to connect my love for baseball with my interest in business.

How does this experience relate to your career or life aspirations? What are you looking to personally get out of it?

This internship has shown me that in the sports business, it takes a lot of time and persistence to succeed. I’m hoping to take away good habits and practical advice from this experience that I can apply to other areas of business down the line.

How has your athletics career prepared you for this role?

Being on the football team has helped me develop strong time management and professionalism. Balancing academics and athletics taught me how to stay organized, work efficiently, and show up prepared. I’ve applied each of these to my day-to-day responsibilities with the IronPigs.

What are you looking forward to for this upcoming year for your sport?

I’m just excited to get back on the field and spend time with my teammates. I’ve missed the game and the energy that comes with being around the team.

Is there anything else you are looking forward to this summer outside of this experience?

I love music, so I’m hoping to catch a few more concerts before the summer wraps up and I head back to school.

The last installment of our check-in series comes next Tuesday as we will hear from softball student-athlete Jessie Sandusky.
