CARLISLE, Pa. - The 11th-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team got second half strikes from
Nicholas Dwamena,
Saul Iwowo and
Ethan Jarden to erase a 0-0 halftime scoreline and turn it into a 3-0 non-conference win over local rival Messiah University on Wednesday night at Miller Memorial Field. The win marked the Devils third win overall and their second consecutive victory over the Falcons.
First Half
- Each team recorded a shot inside the opening seven minutes as Luke Finkielstein and Davis Pagett let the ball fly towards goal, but neither tested keepers Kessler Forrest and Nick Potter.
- The first save that needed to be recorded came courtesy of Forrest when he denied Westin Fryberger at the 12:30 mark.
- The pair of Parker Kiey and Jeremy Sallade tallied shots in minutes 22 and 29, unfortunately they were not able to get their offerings on frame.
- Dickinson continued to keep attacking with Jackson Wolf and Iwowo both adding shots later in the half, but as was the case the whole period none of them bothered the goalie as the match went to the break.
Second Half
- The Red and White needed just over a minute to finally find a breakthrough as Dwamena brought the ball down around the midfield line and made a streaking run up the right side, before crossing the ball to Iwowo for the finish past Forrest.
- Following a yellow card given to Messiah's Jordan Gilman at the 51:20 mark, the Devils needed less than a minute to push the lead to 2-0 thanks to Jarden.
- Then, in the 54th it became 3-0 when Dwamena struck a shot with great conviction and power from the top of the box that eluded Forrest.
- Dickinson continued the push with chances for Timi Omoniwa, Finkielstein and Jarden all missing the target keeping the margin at 3-0 as the match entered the final 20 minutes.
- The teams traded the next four shots with Darian Crim and Jarden accounting for the DC chances which were unable to test Forrest.
- Messiah threw everything forward in the final few minutes looking for a goal to break the cleansheet, but both Ethan Quadrini and Isaac Schmitke could not ask questions of Potter as the match came to an end.
